At Shannon Trust, we value great people that work hard and have the skills and abilities to make a difference. We know the work we do can be challenging, so we want to recognise and reward our team members for their dedication. Our employee benefits package puts you front and centre, so you feel valued working with us.
We are an accredited Living Wage employer, so you can always be sure that you’ll earn more than the Real Living Wage.
You will be enrolled into our pension scheme with The People’s Pension. We will contribute up to 5%, provided you contribute 7%.
Many of our employees are required to work from home and all those employees receive an annual tax free allowance of £312, to help with the extra costs of working at home.
Our employee discount platform, Reward Gateway, is available to all Shannon Trust employees and provides discounts with many major retailers, including most supermarkets, helping you to save money every week.
Our life assurance scheme offers you peace of mind. Should the worst happen, your nominated beneficiaries will receive a payment of 2 x your salary.
You will get a generous 30 days of annual leave per year (FTE), plus bank holidays.
We operate a flexi-time scheme, so all employees (subject to the requirements of their role) are able to work flexibly.
We will pay for you to have an annual flu jab, to keep you as safe as possible during the winter months.
If there is something you think will improve your physical or mental wellbeing, we will contribute up to £100 per year to support you.
You have access to a confidential and independent 24/7 helpline with qualified counsellors and advisors who can offer help with legal, financial, health and family issues.
Most of our staff spend time in front of a computer during the working day. We will pay for you to have a standard annual eye test. If you need glasses or contact lenses for work purposes, we will contribute £50 towards the cost.
Once you’ve passed your probationary period, if you need to take any time off when you are sick, you will get 6 weeks at full pay, then 6 weeks at half pay. We also support our staff with up to 5 days of paid compassionate leave, if it’s needed.
We are grateful for the support of our dedicated team of volunteers, without whom we couldn’t help as many learners as we do. In recognition of the importance of volunteering, you can take 2 days per year as paid leave to volunteer for other charities or voluntary groups.
We offer 12 weeks of paid maternity or adoption leave, followed by Statutory Maternity or Adoption Pay for the remaining 27 weeks. We also offer paid paternity leave for 2 weeks, with the option to take an extra week at full pay at any time during the baby’s first year. Paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave is available to same sex parents on the same basis.
At Shannon Trust, we value the individual. We are supportive and non-judgmental – with our learners, mentors, volunteers and each other.
We work with many people across the criminal justice system and beyond, supporting them to improve their basic literacy and numeracy skills. Developing those skills is critical in reducing reoffending and improving life chances. We want to take every step possible to encourage those with lived experience into employment.
We are an accredited ‘Ban the Box’ employer, meaning we do not ask applicants to declare convictions at the application or interview stage.
We only ask for this information where necessary for the role. We invest in our staff, promote from within wherever possible, and always look to make opportunities for learning and development available to our employees.
